Gottfried Lorenz shows how gay men were prosecuted in rural Hanoverian regions during the Nazi era, using the example of Harburg, which became a district of Hamburg in 1937. His reconstruction of their various fates, filled with local colour, is based on local court files which were originally slated for disposal by the Hamburg city archive.
