Zensur von Büchern und Zeitschriften mit homosexueller Thematik in der Weimarer Republik

Censorship of books and magazines with homosexual content during the Weimar Republic

English abstract

The contribution offers an overview on the state of laws on censorship of erotic and pornographic writings and products during the Weimar Republic. Writings and pictures with homosexual contents were censored, too. The executing public institution was the nationwide responsible central police station for the fight against lewd pictures, writings, products and advertisements in Berlin, whose tasks are introduced. The different handling of censorship regarding books and magazines is supposed to be clarified by some examples. In spite of an increasing general aggravation of censorship at the end of the Weimar republic, a specific censorship regarding homosexuals cannot be ascertained.
