English abstract

Before World War II, Hans Blüher (1888-1955), an antisemitic, sexist and "völkischer" (national) German author of approximately 150 books and essays, was at the core of public interest. He was especially concerned with the influence of male same-sex eroticism on cultural and group-forming aspects, the relationship between "Männerhelden" (male group leaders) and their youth, and the role of "Männerbünde" (male unions) in the past and present. Personal experience and theoretical insight form an inseparable union in Blüher's works. This interplay is explained in the light of four biographically and theoretically significant examples: The German "Wandervogel"-movement as an erotic phenomenon, the (pseudo-)academic and political "Herrenclubs" (men's clubs), the homosexual liberation movements and the political organizations of the NS-System are all spheres with which Blüher was in personal contact and which are illustrated by his writings and his unpublished fragments and letters. This offers new insights regarding his life and ideology and thus opens up new research perspectives.
